Mathematics in the Age of AI: Positioning Gamified Mobile Learning as A Catalyst for Motivation and Achievement in Junior Secondary Schools
Abstract
The persistent challenge of poor motivation and underachievement in Mathematics among junior secondary school students in Nigeria and across the globe calls for innovative solutions. In the age of artificial intelligence (AI), gamified mobile learning applications offer a promising pathway for enhancing both engagement and performance in Mathematics. This paper argues that AI- gamified mobile learning can serve as a catalyst for cultivating motivation and achievement among junior secondary students. Drawing on theories of motivation and emerging empirical evidence, the paper outlines the benefits of AI-powered gamification, addresses potential limitations, and highlights implications for policy and practice in the context of Mathematics teaching and learning.
