Artificial Intelligence in Human Resource Management: Strategic Implications for Planning, HRIS, and Performance Evaluation

Abstract

This study examines the strategic role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Human Resource Management , with specific focus on human resource planning, human resource information systems , and employee performance evaluation. The study seeks to provide a balanced understanding of both the opportunities and challenges associated with the transition from traditional manual HR practices to AI-driven systems. A qualitative and exploratory research design was adopted, relying exclusively on secondary data sourced from scholarly journals, books, industry reports, and credible online publications. Findings from the reviewed literature indicate that traditional HR practices consume substantial organizational time and resources, with some organizations reportedly spending over two million hours annually on manual performance evaluations that are often subjective and inconsistent. In contrast, AI- enabled HR systems facilitate real-time, data-driven, and objective performance assessment, improve decision accuracy, and enhance transparency in HR processes. The study further reveals that artificial intelligence has a positive and significant influence on human resource planning, HRIS effectiveness, and employee performance evaluation. It concludes that strategic adoption of AI enhances employee productivity, operational efficiency, and overall organizational performance. The study recommends stronger top-level commitment to AI design and implementation and advocates for broader integration of AI technologies in HR functions within the entrepreneurial and organizational ecosystem.
