Managing Project Communications in Integrated Project Delivery Process

Abstract

Communication can be considered as one of the foundations of successful project implementation especially when it is used in complex contexts of the Integrated Project Delivery . IPD is an interdisciplinary paradigm that integrates people, systems, organizational processes and operational practices into one unified and cohesive process, thus, prefiguring the early involvement of key stakeholders, equitable distribution of risk, reward and shared decision making. In this kind of a synergistic environment, the project communication management plays a very important role: it will ensure that the all the stakeholders, including the owners, designers, contractors, and suppliers are kept in a synchronized and well informed and active state throughout the project lifecycle. This treatise challenges the principles, strategies and best practices regulating the management of communications in the IPD model. It also examines the suite of tools and methods to support a smooth flow of information, coordination, and real-time collaboration including digital platforms, information management systems, and standardized communication protocols. The study also outlines typical communicative barriers that are inherent in IPD projects such as ideological differences, information flood, conflicting stakeholder interests and technological integration issues. It provides pragmatic resolutions which are meant to reduce these challenges. In addition, the analysis highlights the necessity of the systematic communication-management plan to create transparency, accountability, and effective discussion. Through the assessment of real-life case studies, the study proves that effective communication governance raises the level of project performance, reduces conflicts, minimizes delays, and accelerates the achievement of project goals.
