Computer in Education: Online Learning in Nigeria’s Education System

Abstract

Worldwide, the integration of technology in education is growing daily, especially via online learning, which is transforming the entire education system. The incorporation of ICTs, which computer as the axis is offering numerous benefits by democratizing and increasing access to education, and enhancing citizens' learning experiences. Being very laudable as this may seem in view of its merits, it also possesses a lot of challenges, which is of great concern to many educators, education policy makers, and stakeholders in the education industry. This problem is of growing concern, especially in Nigeria, where the technology is at its neophyte stage. Consequently, this study presents the merits of online learning and the challenges hindering the effective integration of electronic learning in Nigeria. The merits and limitations of this method of instructing or educating our children need to be popularized/advertised for those involved in education planning - policymakers, educators, and institutions to make adequate choices when establishing online programmers, and also to enhance learning outcomes. Conclusively, the researchers recommended some invaluable measures to confront the emerging online problems mesmerizing Nigeria’s online education system to improve its adoption.
