Employee Mental Health and Workplace Well-Being Programs: An Empirical Investigation of Oil Services Firms in Bonny Local Government Area
Abstract
This study investigates the effect of employee mental health on workplace well-being programs in oil services firms within Bonny Local Government Area, Rivers State, Nigeria. Specifically, the research examines how organizational interventions address burnout, stress, and psychological safety among employees in this sector. Using a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from 186 employees across ten oil services firms through structured questionnaires. Simple regression analysis was employed to test three hypotheses concerning the relationship between organizational interventions and the three dimensions of mental health. Results indicate that organizational interventions have significant positive effects on addressing burnout (? = 0.623, p < 0.001), stress management (? = 0.587, p < 0.001), and psychological safety (? = 0.694, p < 0.001). The study concludes that well-designed organizational interventions are crucial for enhancing employee mental health and workplace well-being in the oil services sector. Recommendations include implementing comprehensive mental health programs, regular training for managers, and establishing supportive organizational cultures that prioritize employee well-being.
