A Simulation-Driven Analysis of RC2, 3DES, DES, and AES for Fast and Secure Data Encryption
Abstract
The unprotected electronic document may be subjected to a data breach, in which private or sensitive information is stolen, taken, altered, copied, communicated, viewed, or used without authorization. This study focuses on Data Protection in Cyber-security and compare four encryption algorithms by simulation method to know the algorithm that encrypts and decrypts files faster in VB.Net of different sizes of the data block to determine their performance. The study also evaluates the four most common encryption algorithms like Data Encryption Algorithms, Rivest Cpher2 Algorithm (RC2), Triple Data Encryption Standard (3DES), and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). A simulation comparison was conducted for those encryption algorithms at different settings for each algorithm such as different sizes of Data Blocks to know which among those algorithms encrypt/decrypt documents faster in terms of performance. Simulation results is given by demonstrating the effectiveness of each algorithm and recommended the best for protecting data before exposing it online. As a results, the four Encryption Algorithms were analysed and found that Data Encryption Standard (DES) performs cryptography faster in terms of speed in VB.Net.
