Anike, Raphael Ugwu, Agu, Brayn Chukwuma

Abstract

This study examined the relationship Between peer relations and cyberbullying among undergraduate students. A total of 120 students from Caritas University, Amorji-Nike, Enugu State, participated in the study, with a mean age of 20.48 years (SD=1.970). Participants were selected using multi-stage sampling techniques, including cluster, simple random (balloting), and purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Cyberbullying Questionnaire (Calvete et al., 2010) and the Peer Relationship Scale (Aydo?du, 2022). A cross-sectional design was adopted to determine whether peer relations and personality types are related to cyberbullying at a single point in time. Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient via SPSS Version 25. Findings shows that cyberbullying was significantly and negatively associated with popularity (r=-.260 p<.05), trust (r=-.280, p<.05), and gender (r=-.405, p<.01). The study provides insight into the direction and strength of relationships among peer relations, personality characteristics, and cyberbullying behaviour among undergraduates.
