Impact of Political Leadership on Education in Rivers State Between 2007 and 2023

Abstract

The study investigated the impact of political leadership on education in Rivers State between 2007 and 2023. Despite the huge financial allocation accruing to River State both from federal allocation and internally generated revenue, the education sector in Rivers State has not received the necessary attention. Many schools built in Rivers State especially in rural areas, lack basic infrastructure such as proper classrooms, desks, chairs, and toilets. Most of the schools built under the administration of Rotimi Amaechi between 2007 and 2015 across many communities in the State were poorly managed during the administration of Nyesom Wike (2015 and 2023).
