The State and Electoral Violence: An Analysis of 2023 Presidential Election in Rivers State
Abstract
The study investigated the state and electoral violence with focus on 2023 presidential election in Rivers state[cite: 7]. [cite_start]Three research questions guided the study with three corresponding objectives, the study adopted the Social Identity theory as its theoretical framework[cite: 7]. [cite_start]The population of the study consist of all adult male and females who have attained the age of 18 years and above derived from the total population distribution of Rivers State according to 2020 census projection which is five million, one hundred and ninety-eight thousand, seven hundred and sixteen (5,198,716), formed the general population out of which the sample size was determined[cite: 7].
