Effects of Organophosphorus Insecticide on the Hematological Parameter of the African Catfish
Abstract
The use of pesticides in the control of pests is very common, and the effects of these chemicals on the environment can be negative. Organophosphorus insecticide is a commonly used insecticide in our society today, with its application in the farm, industries, household, market places etc pesticides residues from these can, through run-off, affects the aquatic environment. This study is aimed at evaluating the effect of Organophosphorus on the hematology of the African Catfish (Clarias gariepinus. A total of 20 healthy juvenile's catfish of a mean length of 20cm were used for the experiment. They were divided into four groups of five fish per group.
