Innovative Management as A Panacea for Sustainable Development in Nigeria

Abstract

Nigeria, with its abundance of human and natural resources, is still struggling with immense developmental issues, such as poor infrastructure, institutional inefficiencies, high unemployment rates, and environmental degradation. The problems also raise the shortcomings of the standard management practices, which are typically rigid, bureaucratic, and non-changeable. This paper examines the issue of innovative management as a groundbreaking method of achieving sustainable development in Nigeria. Based on the international best practices and theoretical knowledge, the research focuses on the role of implementing creativity, technological progress, participatory governance, and adaptive leadership in the management system. It critically examines how innovative methods are likely to enhance economic competitiveness, improve the delivery of public services, promote environmental sustainability, and foster inclusive development. As the findings highlighted, Nigeria is in dire need of moving beyond the old forms of administration to fast-paced and innovation-orientated systems that should be able to adequately address the developmental needs of the age. The article is relevant to the discussion of sustainable development because it supports innovation as one of the prerequisites of national growth.
