Cybersecurity Challenges in Online Banking: Best Practices for Protection a Comprehensive Analysis of Threats and Mitigation Strategies in the United States Banking Sector

Imoisili Lucky Oseremen

Abstract

The rapid digitalization of banking services in the United States has fundamentally transformed how financial institutions operate and interact with customers. While online banking offers unprecedented convenience and accessibility, it simultaneously introduces complex cybersecurity challenges that threaten both financial institutions and consumers. This article examines the current landscape of cybersecurity threats facing online banking systems, analyzes the impact of these challenges on digital banking adoption, and presents comprehensive best practices for protection. Through systematic analysis of recent literature and industry data, this study identifies key vulnerabilities in online banking infrastructure and proposes an integrated framework for cybersecurity risk management that addresses both technological and human factors in the digital banking ecosystem.
