Adue, Stephen Barinaadaa Numyone and Alafuro Epelle

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between Public Sector Reforms and Quality Health Care Service Delivery in Nigeria. The objective was to examine how various reforms have affected public sector health care delivery. Data were sourced from Central Bank of Nigeria Statistical Bulletin. Quality health care delivery was modeled as the function of Administrative Reforms, Economic Reforms and Public Finance Management Reforms. Ordinary Least Square was used as data analyses method. The study found that 34.2 percent variation in quality health care service delivery was explained by the reforms. With a coefficient of 0.154374 the results indicated that financial sector reforms have positive impacts on health care service delivery, while the probability value of 0.0002 indicated that the positive impacts were significant. With a coefficient of 0.098749 the results indicated that administrative reforms positively impact the quality of health care delivery, while the probability value of 0.5119 indicated the positive but not significant impact. With a coefficient of 0.427820 the results indicated that economic reforms have positive impacts on health care service delivery, while the probability value of 0.0045 indicated that the positive impacts were significant. From the findings, the study concluded that reforms do not explain to a large extent, the variation in quality health care delivery in Nigeria. We recommend further reforms and implementable polices that can enhance quality service delivery in the health sector in Nigeria.
