Influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) On the Performance and Efficiency of Retail Business Operations in Enugu Metropolis, Enugu State
Abstract
This project seeks to investigate the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the performance and efficiency of retail business operations in Enugu Metropolis, Enugu State, Nigeria. In today’s fast evolving digital economy, AI technologies are becoming essential tools in driving innovations, automating routine tasks, improving decision-making and enhancing customer satisfaction across various sectors including retail. However, in many developing regions, including Enugu, the level of AI adoption and its direct impact on business performance remain under-researched. The proposed study will utilize a mixed methods research design. Quantitative data will be gathered using structured questionnaires distributed to business owners, managers and selected employees within Enugu Metropolis. Qualitative data will be obtained through semi-structured interviews to gain deeper insights into the experiences, perception and challenges faced by retailers in adopting AI tools. Data analysis will involve descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and multiple regression techniques using software such as SPSS or STATA. The anticipated outcome of the research is to provide data-driven recommendations for retail businesses seeking to improve operational performance through AI, and to inform policy makers and technology stakeholders on how to support digital transformation in the local retail sector
