Investigating the Role of Cyber Security Entrepreneurs in Sustaining National Growth and National Security
Abstract
The study examined the critical role of cyber security entrepreneurs in maintaining economic and national security in the face of increasing cyber threats. Data for the study include use of questionnaire to gather insight from cyber security professionals in some companies in Anambra State on the role of cyber security in business environments, as well as secondary data that were collected from reports of Sophos Global cybersecurity firm, Kaspersky laboratory, Paradigm initiative, Fortinet, International Business machine (IBM), and SonicWall Inc. Cyber security entrepreneurship is an area that is growing and awareness is improving. The findings show that cyber security entrepreneurs are playing a vital role in developing innovative solutions to protect individuals, organizations and governments from cyber-attacks. They are crucial for sustaining economic and national security in Nigeria. They equally create jobs for Nigerian citizens and have greatly reduced the costs businesses would have incurred by handling and forestalling cyber- attacks. The study equally identified challenges cyber security entrepreneurs face to include regulatory hurdles, funding constraints and inadequate skilled personnel.
