Availability of Tools, Workshop Utilization and Maintenance as Correlates of Students’ Academic Achievement in Blocklaying and Concreting in Technical Colleges

Abstract

This study examined the relationship between availability of tools, workshop utilization and maintenance as correlates of students’ academic achievement in Blocklaying and concrete works in technical colleges. A correlational research design was employed, using a sample of technical college students and teachers drawn from selected institutions. A structured questionnaire and achievement test served as the primary instruments for data collection. Three research questions and hypotheses guided the study, with data analyzed using mean, standard deviation, crombach alpha. The study results revealed that inadequate availability of tools, poor workshop utilization and ineffective maintenance significantly influenced students’ academic achievement. it was concluded that equipping workshops, promoting regular use, and implementing preventive maintenance are essential for enhancing students’ performance in Blocklaying and Concrete Works. Recommendations were made for policymakers, school administrators, and instructors to strengthen workshop management strategies in order to improve vocational education outcomes.
