Balancing Impact and Resilience in Mixed-Use Facilities: A User- Centred Approach to Design and Aesthetics

Abstract

Mixed-use facilities are complex urban spaces that meet a variety of demands. In our increasingly urbanized and environmentally conscious world, the challenge is to strike a balance between sustainability, functionality, and aesthetics. This study proposes a user- centred approach to design and aesthetics, focusing on integrating human experience with sustainable practices and resilient design solutions. Drawing on architecture, psychology, and urban planning, this research provides a comprehensive framework that integrates user needs, environmental stewardship, and flexibility. Recognizing users as active participants in the built environment, the study examines factors influencing their sense of place and well-being. It also explores the integration of sustainable technologies and adaptable design solutions for long- term viability. Ultimately, this study advocates for a user-centred approach that promotes ecological harmony and social cohesion, resulting in vibrant and inclusive spaces for a sustainable future.
