Analysis of the Impact of Urban Expansion on Infrastructural Development in Sami-Naka Community of Yola South Local Government Area, Adamawa State
Abstract
The study aimed to analyzes of the impact of urban expansion on infrastructural development in Sami-Naka community of Yola South Local Government Area, Adamawa State. The study employed survey techniques, three (300) hundred questionnaires were administered randomly to the respondents. The data obtained were subjected to descriptive statistical analysis. The results revealed that majority of the respondent strongly agreed that high rate of urban growth influences the movement of people in to the area, while disagreed that overcrowding causes all the houses in the area to be properly planned, of the respondents disagreed that adequate distribution of facilities such as school, health care make the area to be properly planned. Similarly, of them disagreed that proper housing structure in my ward is responsible for availability of more land for general developments while disagreed that urban growth rate is responsible for proper sewages and refuse disposal in the study area and disagreed that the level of urban growth account for proper access road in Sami-Naka area. It is recommended therefore, Government should implement urban planning and zoning policies, invest in infrastructure development, integrate environmental sustainability measures, engage with local communities, and establish monitoring and regulation mechanisms for sustainable development in the area.
