Abstract

The design of five-star resort hotels requires a delicate balance between luxury, functionality, and sustainability. However, many resort developments face challenges such as inefficient circulation patterns, underutilized spaces, and high energy demands resulting from poor layout planning and building orientation. This study aims to examine the importance of layout optimization and orientation in enhancing spatial efficiency, environmental performance, and guest satisfaction in resort hotel design. The objectives are to analyze how optimized layouts improve circulation, functionality, and user experience, and to evaluate the role of orientation in achieving natural lighting, ventilation, energy efficiency, and scenic views. Guided by these objectives, the study addresses the following questions: (1) How does layout optimization affect spatial efficiency, circulation, and user experience in a five-star resort hotel? and (2) In what ways does orientation contribute to sustainability and comfort in resort hotel design? By addressing these issues, the study highlights strategies that architects and designers can adopt to create resorts that combine luxury and comfort with efficiency and environmental responsibility.
