Abstract

This study examined the religious/moral impact of cultural practices of widow inheritance on Satte Christians in Adamawa State. The objective of the study was to find out the religious/moral impact of cultural practices of widow inheritance on Satte Christians in Adamawa State. The total population comprised of Satte Christians in Adamawa State made up of two Senatorial Districts are 34,294. Five hundred and fifty-five (555) respondents were randomly sampled to represent the total population. Descriptive survey design was used for the study and questionnaire instrument was employed to collect data. The finding revealed that, the cultural practice of widow inheritance has deprived widows of their rights and privileges, fostering intolerance and hatred among the Christians in Satte, and impacting their religious and moral values. The study recommends that, churches should organize continuous teachings and awareness campaigns to discourage widow inheritance, emphasizing biblical principles of dignity, equality, and justice for widows. Christian communities should collaborate with legal aid groups and social welfare organizations to protect widows’ rights, ensuring they receive inheritance, property, and moral support without discrimination.
