Enhancing User Circulation in the Design of a Prototype Metro- Line Station for Nigeria's Federal Capital Territory (FCT)
Abstract
This thesis explores the impact of the principles and elements of patterns of circulation on the users of metro-line stations. The research addresses key architectural challenges such as overcrowding, limited accessibility, poor circulation, and inefficient zoning that affect user experience and satisfaction experience from the operational performance of metro-line stations. The study aims to develop a spatially efficient metro station design strategies that enhance user movement, safety, and comfort. A mixed-methods approach was adopted, combining qualitative case studies and observational research with quantitative surveys. Data was collected from 340 respondents and analyzed to understand behavioural patterns, circulation bottlenecks, and infrastructural deficiencies within the existing Abuja Metro-line Station.
