Artificial Intelligence Tools for Enhancing Job Productivity of Teachers in Public Senior Secondary Schools in Port Harcourt, Rivers State

Abstract

The study examined artificial intelligence tools for enhancing job productivity of teachers in public senior secondary schools in Rivers State. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, the researcher stated three (3) objectives, posed three (3) research questions and tested three (3) hypotheses that guided the study. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. The population of the study consisted of 2,018 teachers and principals in all the public senior secondary schools in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas of Rivers State. The sample size of the study was 400 teachers and principals. This figure was determined using Taro Yamene formular. The study made use of simple random sampling technique. A self-structured questionnaire was used for collection of data. The questionnaire was validated by the researcher’s supervisor and two other experts in Measurement and Evaluation. To establish the reliability of the instrument, the researcher adopted the Cronbach Alpha method. Reliability coefficients of 0.86, 0.82, and 0.78, were obtained. The data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions. The null hypotheses were tested using z-test statistical tool at a significance level of 0.05. The findings of the study revealed that use of Grammarly while writing essay, use ChatGPT and use of Microsoft enhance job productivity of teacher in public senior secondary schools in Rivers State. It was therefore recommended that government through the school management should introduce the use of Grammarly while writing essay, school management should organize workshop programme for the teachers in the impact of ChatGPT in teaching and learning, and government through the school management should introduce the use of Microsoft for teaching and learning in secondary schools.
