Television and Christian Evangelism: Assessing Its Impact on Evangelism in Mainline Churches in Kaduna State, Nigeria
Abstract
This study examined the influence of television on Christian evangelism in mainline churches across Kaduna State, Nigeria, employing a descriptive survey approach. From a total population of 3,020,405, a sample of 1,013 participants was randomly selected, and data were obtained using a structured questionnaire and analyzed with mean scores. Findings revealed that television evangelism effectively engages diverse audiences, enhances biblical knowledge, reinforces faith, promotes church involvement, encourages moral transformation, and contributes to overall church growth. The study concludes that television remains a highly effective medium for gospel dissemination in both urban and rural areas of Kaduna State. It recommends that mainline churches adopt culturally sensitive, multilingual, and interactive television content, while the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) should provide support through affordable airtime, media production training, and fostering inter-denominational cooperation to enhance spiritual impact and church growth.
