Principals Ethical Behaviours for Effective Administration of Senior Secondary School in Rivers State

Abstract

This paper discusses principals ethical behaviours for effective administration of senior secondary secondary school in rivers state. Principals’ ethical behaviour is expected to promote quality character molding in staff and student for effective administration. Ethical behavior indicates making morally right decisions and actions based on principles such as integrity, respect, fairness, responsibility, compassion, lawfulness, transparency, and civic-mindedness. More so, this paper identifies importance of ethical behavior such as trust and reputation, positive relationships, legal compliance, employee morale and productivity. The concept of the school principal embodies a multifaceted role that extends beyond traditional leadership, encompassing instructional, administrative, and community responsibilities essential to a school's effectiveness and growth. There are many benefits of principal ethical behaviour for the school such as definition of school values, decision on appropriate disciplinary action, leaders are held to high standards, incentivize ethical behaviour. The paper concluded that principals ethical behaviour represents a significant standard of behaviour that encourages the ability to do what is right at all times. The study reveals that principals ethical behaviour is the sensible compliance with the standard of educational policies that guides staff and school business principals with good ethical behaviour have the potential to transform secondary school by automating routine tasks, enhancing decision-making accuracy, and reducing biases when discharging their administrative task. The paper also Suggested that Principals should be encouraged to be accountable to his staff by ensuring that the plans made in the school are adhered to by all staff so as to ensure that the goals and objectives of the plan are achieved as they relate to the school system.
