The Efficacy of African Traditional Medicine and Its Organic Importance in Human Health

Abstract

This study will be carried out in Osun state to investigate the efficacy of African Traditional Medicines and their organic importance in human health. The state comprises of 33 local government areas, as such a multi-stage sampling technique will be used to categorize the LGAs into districts where 200 different plant species will be picked for examination in the laboratory to determine their efficacy in the health care and organic importance in the body of humans. Purposeful sampling technique will be used to sample out the plant species in which different parts of the plants such as roots, stem barks, and leaves as well as other parts like flowers, fruits, kernels etc will be picked for laboratory examination, different plant species will be examined to determine their efficacy and organic importance in human body for recommendation in the health care system. The significance and roles of African Traditional Medicines in maintaining physiological balance, enhancing immunity functions and its therapeutic potentials, bioactive compounds for treatment of various diseases will also be determined. It will be recommended that health care practitioners, policymakers, and researchers should work on ensuring its incorporation into health care system is done because of its efficacy and safety for use as well as its cultural sensitivity. Recommendations for collaboration between the Traditional healers, scientist, and healthcare professionals on ways to promote the sustainable utilization and conservation of medicinal plants will also be made.
