God and the Art of Sculpture: A Theological Explanation

Abstract

This work study the art of sculpture in the humanities. Purpose is to trace its origin and examine God’s part in its emergence, establishment and practice. It exposes evidence that act of molding man in the Bible is the origin of modern sculpture. It’s discussed within the context of uncertainty surrounding the founding of sculpture. It serves as proof that God is the source of all knowledge and skills of man when it comes to sculpture. Research problem are, who is the founding father of sculpture? Is it correct to describe Francois Auguste Rene Rodin as the father of sculpture? There exists a gap in literature which it hopes to fill. Main argument is that God is the founder of sculpture. Findings - sculptural work carried out by God at creation predates that of the world. It is expected to contribute to knowledge through originality, new ideas being canvassed and available literature. Methodology is the analytical method of explanation. Paper concludes that the molding of man by God made unquestionable and pioneering contribution to the art of sculpture. Hence God is the author, founder and creator of sculpture whether ancient or modern.
