Influence of Armed Banditry Attacks on the Socio-Economic Life of Benue State Citizenry
Abstract
This study examines the influence of armed banditry attacks on the socio-economic life of Benue State citizenry. Four hundred (400) respondents were chosen using a purposive sampling method across the nine (9) Local Government Area of the State, with three ach from the three senatorial districts in Benue State. Questionnaire was distributed to the various respondents. The data collected was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 20. Apart from this, the study also used chi-square statistical method is analyzing the data collected in order to find out whether relationship exists among the variables. From the findings the research shows that significant relationship exists between armed banditry attack and its effect on the socio- economic life of the Benue State citizenry. This connotes that most of the social and economic livelihood have been ravaged due to the activities of armed banditry attacks. Suggestions and recommendations such as both kinetic and non-kinetic approach should be employed in tackling the challenges of armed banditry, the government should intensify its efforts purchasing sophisticated weapon that our army should use compared to the ones used by the armed banditry.
