Acting Madmajor : The Critic as Actor

Chibueze Prince Orie, PhD

Abstract

The saga that was the Nigeria-Biafra civil war has remained a very interesting news in the ears of most Africans and the peoples of the world. The story of the war remains controversial and relevant in African literature. That civil war has been recreated in the various major genres of literature, by mostly South-Eastern writers. For most of the writers, there is need to continue to protest the preferring of war on the people of the South-East. So, the war recreation is a protest writing. Afam Ebeogu’s Madmajor is a sample of the Nigeria-Biafra civil war drama. This study explores how the playwright uses his imaginative historical recreation to relive and represent the war that was perhaps the massacre of the people of the South-East of Nigeria.
