Performance Assessment of an Audio Amplifier on Sound Level Stability over Distance and Intensity Variation
Abstract
This research presents a comprehensive performance evaluation of an audio amplifier with a focus on sound level stability across varying spatial distances and input intensity levels. The study aims to quantify the amplifier’s capability to maintain consistent sound pressure levels (SPL) and audio fidelity under dynamic operational conditions. A controlled experimental setup was employed, wherein calibrated input signals were transmitted through the amplifier, and SPL measurements were systematically recorded at incremental distances using a precision sound level meter. The assessment parameters included output linearity, harmonic distortion, and attenuation behavior over distance. Results revealed that while the amplifier demonstrated acceptable linearity at moderate input intensities and proximal distances, significant deviations in SPL and increased distortion were observed as both distance and intensity escalated. These findings underscore the influence of environmental acoustics and power handling limitations on amplifier performance. The study provides valuable insights for optimizing amplifier design and deployment, particularly in applications demanding high-fidelity sound reproduction over variable acoustic environments.
