Abstract

This study examines the roles of various stakeholders in waste management, highlighting the challenges and opportunities within the system. Waste management is a critical component of sustainable development, requiring the collaboration of multiple actors, including governments, private companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), local communities, and individuals. Each stakeholder plays a distinct role in managing waste, from policy formulation and enforcement to waste collection, recycling, and public awareness. However, the sector faces numerous challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, weak enforcement of regulations, insufficient funding, and low public participation. Corruption, mismanagement, and lack of coordination further exacerbate these problems. Despite these issues, there are prospects for improvement through technological innovation, public-private partnerships, community involvement, and stronger governance frameworks. The study suggests that a collaborative and integrated approach, involving all stakeholders, is essential to overcoming the challenges and achieving effective waste management for environmental sustainability.
