Cultural Diplomacy and Language Promotion in Nigeria

Dr. Teibowei, Marie Therese

Abstract

Cultural diplomacy and language promotion are influential tools in international relations, fostering connections, mutual understanding, and cooperation among nations. This study encapsulates the essence of these intertwined concepts, exploring their profound impact on global interactions and diplomatic engagements. Two research objectives guided the study. The study explored the role of language in cultural diplomacy initiatives aimed at fostering mutual understanding and cooperation between nations. Also, the study examined how language promotion programs, linguistic exchanges, and cultural initiatives facilitate diplomatic relations and soft power diplomacy. The study established that cultural diplomacy and language promotion represent indispensable pillars in fostering a more interconnected, empathetic, and harmonious global community. Through their concerted efforts, nations can build bridges, nurture understanding, and cultivate enduring relationships, ultimately contributing to a more peaceful and prosperous world.
