Managing Unemployment and Criminal Activities in Nigeria: The Case of Bayelsa State

Abstract

The study examined unemployment and criminal activities in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study sought to examine the nature of relationship between unemployment and criminal activities in Bayelsa state. It also sought to investigate how criminal activities in Bayelsa State can be effectively managed. The frustration-aggression theory, which suggested that there was a relationship between frustration due to unemployment and criminal activities, was used as the theoretical framework that guided the study. Methodologically, the study employed quantitative approach which was logically complemented with qualitative method. Primary and secondary data were used.
