Community Participation Strategies and their Effectiveness in the Management of Public Post-Basic Educational Institutions in Kano State, Nigeria

Abstract


The study determined community participation strategies and examined their effectiveness in managing post-basic educational institutions (PPBEIs) in Kano State, Nigeria. The study objectives, determined the strategies adopted and examined the effectiveness for the management of public post-basic educational institutions. The population of the study comprised the teaching staff, non-teaching staff, officials of Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) and officials of School- Based Management Committee (SBMC) in public secondary schools. The population of 20,106 was obtained from the existing 945 public secondary schools in Kano State as provided by Kano State Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSMB). The sample size for the study was determined using Research Advisors (2006) Sample Size Table, where 378 respondents were selected. The survey design was used and the instruments for data collection were a questionnaire
