Influence of Reward and Punishment on Academic Performance of Secondary School Students in Enugu State Nigeria

Abstract


This study investigates the perceived influence of reward and punishment on the academic performance of secondary school students in Enugu State. It was designed to determine the direction and level of influence which reward and punishment have on students’ academic performance. The study took the design of a descriptive survey. The sample size was 383 respondents which were selected from the population of 135,277 students drawn from senior secondary schools in Enugu State. A questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection. The Perceived Influence of Reward and Punishment on Academic Performance Questionnaire for Students (PIRPAPQ) was designed based on a four-point Likert scale. The data generated in this
