Management of Students’ Discipline and School Based Violence in Government Aided Secondary Schools in Bulambuli District, Uganda

Abstract


The study sought to examine the influence of management of students’ discipline on school- based violence in government aided secondary schools in Bulambuli District, Uganda. Two research objectives were; to analyze the influence of implementing guidance and counseling on school-based violence and to assess the influence of students’ involvement in discipline management on school based violence in government aided secondary schools in Bulambuli District. The population of the study was 184 Head teachers and teachers with a sample size of 164 respondents. Sampling techniques used were simple random sampling and census inquiry for teachers and head teachers respectively. The study adopted a descriptive survey design and a mixed method paradigm where both qualitative and quantitative research approaches were used. The Research instruments used were; questionnaires and interview guides. Data was analyzed using SPSS Version 20 to generate frequency distribution tables, percentage and the Pearson moment correlation coefficient was used to analyze the influence on variables.
