The current study was carried out to investigate the psychological effect of parental educational background on learning strategies being employed by secondary schools students in adamawa state Nigeria. There were a total of 20 respondents randomly selected from secondary schools in adamawa state of Nigeria. The study sought answers for the following research questions: what strategies are employed by secondary school students in the adamawa state Nigeria while learning Identify the most frequently employed LS by the respondents. Do parents educational qualification has effect on the choice of learning strategies of the sampled population? The methodology employed for this study is qualitative survey design. The descriptive analysis was used to analyse the data collected. The results from the findings showed that respondents whose mothers were not formally educated or with only primary or secondary education reported using more strategies compared to their counterparts whose fathers were not formally educated or have primary/secondary education and respondents of more educated fathers showed more strategy use compared to their colleagues whose mothers were educated. The study recommends that parents and teachers have major roles to play in improving students' use of learning strategies to facilitate the learning methodology.
