Water supply of good quality in localities is an issue of concern in different parts of Nigeria. Water samples from tap water in submerged of flooded areas in selected local areas of Rivers State were sampled and analyzed for some physicochemical parameters. The samples were collected from Tai, Obio/Akpor, Port Harcourt, Oyigbo andEleme Local Government Area of Rivers State in Nigeria in both dry and wet season. The parameters examined were electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), turbidity, total hardness, magnesium hardness, calcium hardness, dissolved oxygen and pH. The result showed that electrical conductivity varied from of 0.87±0.005 to 0.97±0.0 µS/cm2 in the dry season and 0.80±0.01 to 113±1.58 µS/cm2 in the wet season, TDS ranged from 34.2±13.3 to 65.2±31.4 mg/L in the dry season and 0.85±0.04 to 140.8±33.4 mg/L in the wet season and turbidity ranged from 0.13±0.004 to 0.18±0.01 NTU in the dry season and 0.15±0.03 to 0.31±0.1 in the wet season. The values of total hardness varied from 55.6±23.9 to 151.8±43.3 mg/L and 19.6±1.1 to 103.3±9.6 mg/L in dry and wet season respectively. Magnesium hardness values ranged from 6.52±0.87 to 10.8±1.30 mg/L and 1.92±0.08 to 7.86±0.22 mg/L for the respective dry and wet seasons. Calcium hardness varied from 22.8±3.1 to 110.8±23.4 mg/L and 18.5±1.1 to 93.2±0.8 mg/L in dry and wet season respectively. The values of pH varied from 6.80±1.10 to 7.60±0.89 in the dry season and 5.68±0.10 to 6.78±0.13 in the wet season. All the examined parameters fall within the WHO acceptable limit for drinking water, therefore, the water based on the analyzed parameters is suitable for domestic use.
